Zermatt:
Almost a third of all 4000m mountains in the Alps are grouped around the village, which has been visited by climbers around the world since the Matterhorn's first ascent in 1865. Its hotels and restaurants have a world class reputation. The skiing area is not only the highest one in the Alps, but is also one of the best-developed ones around the world, allowing bold sporting ventures in one of the steepest destinations in the world—365 days a year! The climate is also outstanding; with 300 days of sun in the year, it has Switzerland's lowest amount of precipitation. And because since 1947 only electric vehicles without combustion engines are allowed to drive there, Zermatt's air is fresh, dry, and clean. Zermatt is unique in many ways – a world of its own.
Offer:
Ski and snowboard all year round, 365 days of snow – you will only find that in Zermatt. Being the highest and biggest all-year snow sports area with an efficiently developed network, Zermatt can guarantee that there will be snow. In the winter time there are 350km of snow for skiers on every level. And nowhere else can you ski on both sides of the Swiss-Italian border. And in the summer? Enjoy 20km of slopes on the Zermatt Theodul glacier. Carve and relax next to national alpine skiing teams from all of Europe—with the Matterhorn before your eyes at all times.
The drive to Zermatt leads through the Lötschberg car transport or the Furka car transport. An alternative, longer route goes via Martigny. The motor access goes up to Täsch, from where you would take the Matterhorn train to Zermatt.
